Acadia NP/Bar Harbor, ME
July 20-25, 2007 - Days 5-10 on the road. Part V.

Bar Harbor at dusk. This is a working harbor - the majority of the boats here are working boats - lobster and trawlers.

More Bar Harbor at dusk. These are all working boats too.

Sunset over a lobster boat.

A waterman's shuttle. All the working boats are anchored in the harbor, not at a dock - this is how they get to their boats.

In addition to being a working harbor, Bar Harbor is a tourist attraction - albeit a bit more upscale than Lake George. Here's one of the nice bars downtown. I don't remember the name of this one, but it was nice. Check out the moose on the roof.

And that's it for Acadia NP/Bar Harbor - tomorrow I leave for Canada.

My stay in Bar Harbor was enjoyable although I didn't get in as much hiking as I wanted. My right foot has been bothering me for a few days and on my second day here, the pain forced me back to my campsite. I pulled a muscle and with every step the pain would almost bring me to my knees. I soaked my feet in an epsom salt bath a couple times and kept heat on the injured muscle. I've mostly recovered but my foot is still a little tender. I hope to be fully recovered in a couple days. I'll be back to Acadia NP/Bar Harbor at the end of this trip and take on some of the other hikes with a pair of good feet!
