More waterfront. The building on the right is the Casino. The building on the left is an office/hotel. The supports that look like piles that run into the water also circulates water from deep in the harbor to use in cooling the building.

This is one several diesel-electric submarines acquired from the British Royal Navy. This one, and one you can't see just in front of this one, are currently being refit for service in the Canadian Navy.

More of the harbor. That's the McDonald bridge in the background, connecting Halifax with Dartmouth. Beyond the bridge is the Bedford Basin.

As Luck would have it, my visit to Halifax coincided with a Busker Festival. Busker \BUS-kur\, noun: A person who entertains (as by playing music) in public places.

Busking is a British term used in many areas of the English-speaking world. Here, we just call them street performers or street musicians. Buskers do a lot of things - musical performance, clowning, comedy, improvisation, balloon modeling, dance, acrobatics, contortions and escapes, juggling, magic, fire eating, sword swallowing, street theatre, puppeteering, storytelling or recite poetry or prose as a bard, or do mime.

Through the few weeks the Buskers were to be in town, I think there was some of each - from what I saw on the couple days I was in the city, some acts are good, some pretty lame. All however, will have a hat or some other container on the ground in front of them where you can donate a couple bucks toward their next meal.

After such an energetic show, it's time for lunch at Murphy's. Such a nice view from the deck!

Lunch. Fish 'n Chips and a couple pints of Keith's finest ale!

Another harbor tour - on this one, you can even help raise the sails!
