Baddeck, Nova Scotia
August 6-11, 2007 - Days 22-27 on the road. Part VIII.
The Governor.
Everyday at noon the enactors put on a parade, fire off a few muskets and fire a cannon. Good show!
Hmmm. Remember those drums from an earlier picture? Here they are again!
I love a parade!
The bread wagon. I'm not sure where they grind the grain, but they do bake bread on-site. It's sold to the public by the loaf ($4) and there are sample of several different kinds. It's a little crude, but not too bad.
The blacksmith talking about his colonial life. Each of the enactors plays a role of one of the original residents. This one talks as if he is actually living in the early 18th century. Not too bad!
The Armory. Here's where the cannons are assembled - the tripod is used to lift the cannon barrel onto the carriage (the red thing behind the tripod).
Enactors doing what they do. Playing a game.
The last time the french Fortress of Louisbourg fell to the British, the main attack by the British came from across the bay from this point of land. This is the Louisbourg Light.
The rocky head the light protects.
